DESCRIPTION:Postponed last season owing to the pandemic we will hopefully be able to see this stunning presentation in 2022. Walking among the giant Elephant Seal\, or a colony of stunning Albatross; photographing the Giant Southern Petrels gliding over the waves\, or waiting on the beach for Penguins to come ashore\, just feet away from you. These are just a few of the many highlights which the Falkland Islands\, with its wild and unspoiled habitat and the very approachable wildlife\, offer to the nature enthusiast. Bleaker-Saunders-Carcass and Sea lion Island are the places visited in this trip\, filled with so many different species of birds\, from the tiny Wren to the Endemic Caracara\, from the Rock Hopper to King Penguin\, and many more species like Gulls\, Ducks\, Geese\, Waterfowl\, Grebes\, Waders\, Thrushes\, Finches\, Cormorants\, and the aggressive Skua. Also included in this beautiful and interesting presentation are the local flora\, landscapes and a visit to the capital city\, Stanley.

SUMMARY:THROUGH THE MIND’S EYE by Heather Burns MCGP
DESCRIPTION:Heather is well known for her Gothic style images using layers and textures\, but in the first half of this evening she will speak a little about where she started out as a gig photographer and how this evolved into promo and PR for bands and how she fell in love with the creative aspect of photography.  She has a whole host of images to go with the talk from gig shots / PR shots / portraits / landscapes and gothic art and a selection of images from her Qualified / Craftsman and Master Craftsman panels with the Guild.  (In 2019 she became a two times Master Craftsman with the Guild of Photographers).  In the second half of the evening we will have a look at how she puts an image together with  a wide selection of before and after shots to show how impactful some very simple editing can be to some edits of a complex nature and how the same techniques can make two images look very different.  She considers herself a storyteller creating images that that have no requirements for words which can be interpreted in many different ways by each individual who takes the time to look. https://www.heatherburnsphotography.co.uk/index.html.

He is now a member of the famous Rolls Royce club and tonight will give us two contrasting talks – On My Doorstep is a series of images taken within 30 minutes of his home in North West Leicestershire\, whilst in Land of The Long White Cloud he takes us through the majestic North and South Islands of New Zealand visiting the thermal springs of Rotorua and the magnificent Southern Alps.

SUMMARY:PHOTOGRAPHING BIRDS OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA by Shelley Pearson
DESCRIPTION:Shelley is one of Australia’s top wildlife photographers. She lives about 45 minutes south of Perth\, Western Australia where they have very hot summers and warmer winters than the UK. Her talk will be about her journey photographing birds in the region. She plans on showing a selection of images of birds from places she has been and will talk about how she captured the image along with stories of her trips to photograph certain  birds.  She is particularly renowned for her use of light and particularly loves the Mandurah Estuary which will feature prominently in her talk.
